• Studying and Living in Princeton

  There is some good information on the Internet in Japanese about studying and living in Princeton, but not a whole lot in English (that I could find), so I put together this little page. It has information about news media, government offices, transportation, shopping, university departments/facilities, eating, entertainment, selling stuff, and blogs/websites.
• IME Pad Kanji Input

  There has been some buzz recently about the Nintendo DS's Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten 漢字そのまま楽引辞典 because it supports kanji input by hand (stylus / stroke-sensitive). The dictionary is a great tool, but if portability is not an issue, Windows users can do pretty much the same thing for free on their computer right now. The directions below show you how to use the IME Pad.

  I started practicing calligraphy when I first went to Japan in 1996. I can't say that I ever developed much skill in the art, but I sure do enjoy it. This page has a few samples of things I've done over the years.
• CD-ROM Dictionaries for Translators and Language Learners 翻訳・語学のためのCD-ROM辞書

  EPWING and other companies have released several useful CD-ROM dictionaries, but those little CDs can be pretty expensive, which makes it difficult to decide which ones to purchase. To help out, I've ranked them, provided links to their product blurbs, written a little bit about my experiences with them, and taken some screenshots of sample searches.
